Untamed Angling to Give Away a Trip to Pirarucú to Celebrate “Gigas” — a New Film from The Fly Fishing Nation
The new film about fly fishing for arapaima is a selection for the International Fly Fishing Film Festival and RISE Fly Fishing Film Festival
MANAUS, Brazil (January 24, 2019) — Untamed Angling is pleased to announce the release of “Gigas,” a new film from The Fly Fishing Nation. “Gigas” features fly fishing at Pirarucú, an Untamed Angling lodge located in the Mamirauá Sustainable Development Reserve in Brazil.
An official selection for both the International Fly Fishing Film Festival and RISE Fly Fishing Film Festival, “Gigas” follows a group of anglers as they take on giant arapaima in the jungle wilderness of the Amazon. To celebrate the release of the film, Untamed Angling, The Fly Fishing Nation, and The Venturing Angler have teamed up to give away a trip to Pirarucú. The trip giveaway includes five days of guided fly fishing and six nights of accommodations for one at Pirarucú. (Flights and gratuities are not included.)
To enter for a chance to win, attend a screening of the film at the International Fly Fishing Film Festival or RISE Fly Fishing Film Festival, and then post a photo from the event on Instagram with the hashtag #untamedventuringnation and tag @pirarucuflyfish, @untamedangling, @theflyfishingnation, and @venturingangler. One entry per person will be accepted for each event attended, thereby allowing viewers multiple entries. The winner will be randomly selected after both film festivals have ended.
For Rodrigo Salles of Untamed Angling, the film release and trip giveaway are both opportunities to experience Pirarucú. “Untamed Angling is excited to give viewers a glimpse of what fly fishing for arapaima is all about through the film,” says Salles. “Stephan and the team at The Fly Fishing Nation did phenomenal work with this film, and we are excited to give a trip away to one lucky viewer.”
The International Fly Fishing Film Festival and RISE Fly Fishing Film Festival have numerous events in 2019. Dates and locations are listed on each festival website.

We have exclusivity to acess and fish the core of Mamiraua Reserve – the biggest Arapaima reserve on earth where any kind of fishing in the core area was always forbidden – a complex of lakes, channels and rivers – where huge populations if arapaima feed and spawn.
The fishing season in our new Arapaima destination is the same for our giant peacock bass fishery.
Untamed Angling’s very own Rodrigo and Marcelo sat down with Tim Harden for an episode of The Venturing Angler Podcast. In the episode, the three discuss the incredible jungle fly fishing found at our destinations.

There are unique fishing destinations in the world – wild locations where getting there is half the adventure and one can experience life-changing angling experiences.
At Untamed Angling we dream about these waters, and pursue the most remote and difficult-to-operate angling destinations in the world, undeterred by the distances, difficulties, obstacles, and the naysayers. We are wholly driven by legends, myths, and the spirit of adventure.
It’s the unknown that drives us each and every day in creating and developing the most exotic, remote and spectacular angling odysseys that have ever been made available to the fly fishing industry.
It’s the soul of our being:
venturing deep into nature.
